On software projects, SEO usually arrives last: the site gets built, someone asks why it isn’t in Google, and a list of recommendations is handed to the engineering team — half of which is never implemented, because implementing it would mean rewriting the architecture.
Most technical SEO problems are architecture decisions taken too late.
Server rendering is an SEO decision, not a technical one
If your page is assembled in the browser with JavaScript, Google has to execute it to see it. That happens, but with delay and a limited budget. A page that returns complete HTML in the first response is indexed faster and more reliably.
You can’t fix this later with a plugin. Either it renders on the server from the start, or it doesn’t.
URL structure can’t be changed later
Every URL change means a redirect, and every redirect leaks some of the authority you accumulated. So lay URLs out on day one so they still make sense a year later:
/services/web-development— not/page?id=12/blog/<meaningful-title>— not/blog/2024/03/17/post- Categories separate from articles, so both can grow independently
Structured data is only worth having when it’s true
FAQ schema on a page with no questions and answers, or Product schema on a page with no price, is ignored at best and penalised at worst. The rule is simple: anything you claim in JSON-LD must be visible on that page.
Multilingual: get hreflang right
If you run Persian and English, each page must point at its counterpart and
both must point at x-default. Without that, Google treats the two versions as
competitors and picks one — usually not the one you wanted.
Speed: the lab number doesn’t matter, the field number does
A 100 in Lighthouse on your laptop proves nothing. What affects ranking is real Core Web Vitals from real users: LCP, INP and CLS on mobile, on real networks. Start with the hero image and fonts, not with shaving kilobytes off CSS.
In short
Technical SEO isn’t something added after delivery; it’s a set of architecture decisions taken while building. That’s why we don’t sell SEO separately from development — the person writing the site should be the person making these calls.
